CelebrityDialogue: What were you doing before starting the “Delicious Bite” brand?
Susana: I work for Corporate America, I have over 15 years of business experience with international and Fortune 500 companies. Confident of my entrepreneurial capabilities and strong business skills, I decided to pursue a life long dream of creating and growing my own business.

CelebrityDialogue: How and when did you start producing Delicious Bite products?
Susana:The idea was born in 2005 and since that point brand creation and product development started to take shape. Delicious Bite was legally incorporated at the end of 2006 and products started to be available at grocery retail stores/chains in 2007.

CelebrityDialogue: Tell us about some of the main products?
Susana: We specialize in frozen Latin American appetizers/meals, we currently have four (4) products under the Delicious Bite registered brand in the grocery retail market.
Our first and most popular product is our Tequenos (Bread Cheese Sticks), that are made with a unique artisan dough that is then used to wrap the delightful Hispanic White Cheese-Queso Blanco. When heated, the cheese keeps its unique creamy consistency and the Tequenos are crispy and delightful to the bite. Discover Tequenos, a one-of-a-kind Latin favorite.
Pandebono/Bread Cheese Rolls, are an excellent gluten-free bread alternative. They are a tasty blend of tapioca and corn starch, Hispanic white cheese and butter that creates a Latin favorite that’s sure to captivate your family and friends. Excellent for lunch, dinner, as a snack, or to accompany coffee, tea, or a hot cocoa.
Easy Dough/Artisan Dough Disc, for the famous empanadas, this is such a great product that your imagination is the limit, you simply choose the filling of your preference and you have a quick, easy and healthy meal.
Ready Dough/Lasagna Noodle, no precooking needed, pre-cut noodle sheets that save your time and make your lasagna preparation enjoyable.

CelebrityDialogue: What about the ingredients?
Susana: Our products are made with the best quality ingredients; our goal is to provide a healthy but tasty alternative, as I always say “a treat without the guilt”. There is no trans fat or artificial coloring in our products, we use only the freshest ingredients, as we want to make sure the whole family can enjoy the easy to prepare snack; appetizer or meal.

CelebrityDialogue: What was the primary motivation behind this idea?
Susana: The motivation was to bring the authentic Latin American/Hispanic flavor in a very appealing package, with gourmet quality, easy to understand by the American consumer, so that non-Hispanic and Hispanic consumers could enjoy the brand. We bring a brand to the market that is tasty and a healthy alternative, 100% made in the USA and at an affordable price.
I will also like to add that Delicious Bite is not only a brand, it is a Food Manufacturing company and we are creating job opportunities. The Manufacturing Industry has always been key in contributing to the economy’s recovery, as for every 8 jobs that are created in manufacturing 6 other jobs outside are generated.

CelebrityDialogue: What difficulties and challenges did you face initially?
Susana: Our biggest challenge has been brand recognition and marketing, as they get the products to be known to people. As a small company we have and continue to be very creative in order to build the brand. We do direct marketing at the stores where the products are available, offer coupons for next purchase, use Facebook, Twitter, local adds, participate in foods shows in the area, partner with local organizations, and most important the word of mouth. Our customers have been very supportive in spreading the word as they really enjoy the product and know that we are a small company with a great product making a difference in the community as we are creating job opportunities and bringing to the market excellent quality products.

CelebrityDialogue: How do you differentiate Delicious Bite from other competing brands?
Susana: Our biggest differentiator is that our brand brings the Hispanic cuisine in a package that is appealing and friendly. Our products are of gourmet quality and we provide a healthy alternative, so I believe the combination of all those factors makes Delicious Bite the brand of choice for the Hispanic appetite.

CelebrityDialogue: Which target market does your product cater to?
Susana: Our products cater from kids to adults. Kids love the flavor and it is a fun snack or meal alternative. Adults enjoy the fact that our products are easy and fast to prepare, and they can treat their families and entertain their friends as well. Our products are great for all occasions. We target the non-Hispanic and the Hispanic consumer that wants to enjoy a real treat without the guilt.

CelebrityDialogue: What is the distribution and delivery mechanism?
Susana: We currently have distribution in the North East and the South West Region through grocery retail stores, and we are growing rapidly into other regions.
We also serve restaurants, hotels, casinos and other food service customers whom we distribute directly or through food distributors.

CelebrityDialogue: How do you compare the pricing?
Susana: Our pricing is very affordable as our goal is that every family/consumer can enjoy our products. Compared with other similar products our brand (in quantity and quality) has the best price.

Business Idea: Elohim Cleaning Contractor

Source:http://www.elohimcleaningcontractors.com/a-companyhistory.htm
Elohim Cleaning Contractors Inc. was born after Sirena Moore had a life changing conversation with her father Theodore Moore a union construction laborer at the time for over 15 years. Both Sirena Moore and Theodore Moore Sr. were employed at a very large construction project in Lansdale, PA where Theodore Moore worked as a laborer and Sirena Moore, a teenage mother, worked as an office administrator. There had always been conversations about starting a family business and after gaining access to the final cleaning portion of the contract where both individuals were employed the decision was made.

Theodore and Sirena noticed that a final cleaning contractor had been awarded a six figure contract to do work that Theodore and his crew had already completed. Both individuals saw an opportunity for a very valuable service within the industry. In 2002, about two years later Sirena began searching the internet to gain information about business planning and start-up resources. By this time, Sirena gained employment as a Financial Sales Assistant for a large investment firm. She made arrangements for a babysitter to care for her young twin daughters and sacrificed two nights out of the week to attend a business plan class offered by the Women’s Business Development Center in Philadelphia, PA. Meanwhile, Theodore Sr. and Jr. began accepting small debris removal projects. This was only the beginning. On June 19, 2002, five days before Sirena’s 21st birthday Theodore Moore Sr. made the appointment with the attorney and Elohim Cleaning Contractors was incorporated.

Although start-up was very difficult it was not impossible. The family put their heads together and made some very hard decisions. There was no start-up capital so the first employee was paid with Theodore’s unemployment check. Sirena did all administrative work, marketing materials, contracts, and more in the evening so that she could continue working full-time in order to provide for her twin daughters. Theodore Jr. assisted Theodore Sr. with all field duties. The office was Theodore Jr.’s bedroom at the family home. Having no start-up capital was not enough to stop what Elohim started. Elohim Cleaning Contractors has now surpassed the million dollar sales mark in under five years and the company is growing at a rapid pace. Elohim currently has no debts and no loans, and has managed to provide full-time employment for every officer and has employed as many as 61 minority men and women with very diverse backgrounds.

It has been said and proven that many businesses fail within the first five years of business. However, Elohim Cleaning Contractors has managed to make it past the five year point and business is soaring. The first few years were spent organizing and finding our niche within the market. Strategic and Operational Plans were put in place by Sirena to foster company growth. We expect sales to exceed $1.8 million in 2008. Thus far, sales revenues have been used to maintain payroll for ongoing projects, renovate current office space, purchase office equipment and acquire new and used equipment and vehicles for use at various job sites. Elohim has faced many obstacles that most small businesses face such as lack of working capital, unreliable employees, and general day to day administrative errors. However, we believe that proper planning and the favor of God have been the keys to success for Elohim Cleaning Contractors Inc.

Business idea : Yofo (by John Vons)

Yofo’s website: http://www.yofo.com/

Source:http://business.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/17/out-of-work-architect-banks-hopes-on-iphone/

New York (CNN) – Can Apple make you rich? That is what John Vons hopes.

An architect by professional, Vons was laid off three years ago. Frustrated and running out of options Vons decided he needed to reinvent himself. Inspired by the design and popularity of Apple’s products, Vons created an iPhone accessory he calls the yofo. It is a small suction device that allows you to cradle the iphone on your shoulder or stick it on a surface to more easily watch content.

As he and his partner, Genie, made the rounds to secure funding, the feedback was good, but would-be backers shied away due to the shaky economy. A friend finally came up with enough to pay for the first batch, but there is little left over for marketing.

Which is how I met John. He decided to come up to New York for the launch of the Apple iPhone 4S. All morning he walked the line of customers giving demonstrations and handing out cards for their website yofo.com You could tell by watching him that he was not entirely in his comfort zone as marketer.

“I am usually a quiet, reserved guy who sits and designs on his own,” Vons said.

But Vons knows he doesn’t have a choice. He’s made 10,000 of these gadgets with the hope – and the prayer – that they sell.

A few people he approached on line backed away suspiciously (hey this is New York!) but generally people were receptive. Even if they don’t ultimately buy the product, I think people admire the courage and sacrifice it takes to try and claw out of the ranks of the long-term unemployed.

And there is sacrifice. To conserve cash, John and Genie say they had to give up their New York apartments and moved in with her parents in Alabama. They live over the family’s funeral home and John smiles as he explains how he helps Genie’s Dad drive the hearse and “move the dead people around.”

Is the yofo going to make John Vons rich? Ten years ago the answer would have been no. But the power of the internet is a game changer. Yofo has no retail presence and no marketing budget but it does have a website and these days that is all you really need to get started.

The other powerful force at work is the huge economy that now swirls around Apple products. From apps to accessories to doctors who fix busted phones, entrepreneurs are figuring out a way to tap into Apple’s cool.

If Vons succeeds in grabbing only a slice of the millions of customers who will purchase an iPhones 4S, he will be on his way to a new course for his life.

Though I don’t know him personally, watching him work the New York lines of customers for the new iPhone 4S, I can’t help but wish him well.

Movie to check out:- There Be Dragons

I just have to share a movie for you guys to check out. It’s called “There be dragons.” Directed by Oscar Nominated Roland Joffe. I checked out the website(http://www.rolandjoffe.com/there-be-dragons) and was captured by the title of movie. It sounded interesting to me so i clicked the trailer and it drew me to the film. If you want to read the story and theme go to:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_be_dragons. It appears to be a powerful film that has to deal with faith and life and especially love and forgivness(as the trailer stated of course). I wished i watched this movie in the theater, it came out on May 2011.

The last time i’ve watched a movie that dealt with spanish civil war was the Gulliermo del Toro film, Pan’s Labyrinth. And that turned out to be a very good movie so i’m betting this movie might be also. I’m a man of faith and i believe that with faith and action that anyone could achieve anything. You need faith and action to conquer any dragons in our life. And since I am a believer of God and Christ this movie is worth checking out. From wikipedia i saw that the title of the movie came from the phase “Here, there be dragons”. It is a phrase used to denote dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of the medieval practice of putting sea serpents and other mythological creatures in uncharted areas of maps.

By the way the inspirational testimony by Wes Bentley was a great addition of how something you’re working in could touch your life personally. His testimony of how he fought his own dragon in his life must have reflected his performance in the movie. Hope you guys watch the clips. Have a blessed day, bye.

Business Idea: Butch Bakery

Source/ article from: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/03/butch-bakery-cupcakes-for-guys-david-arrick_n_913696.html
In 2008, David Arrick thought he’d had a stroke of luck in the middle of the cratering economy. He’d lost his job as a commercial real estate lawyer with a Wall Street firm, but an intriguing opportunity in Dubai came along. He went over for three weeks, got the lay of the land on 120-degree days in the middle of Ramadan and decided that developer’s paradise was where he wanted to spend the next few years. By the time he returned to New York to get his affairs in order, however, the offer had been rescinded. “The whole country’s a big façade,” he says.

Arrick, 42, was caught in the same downward spiral many Americans have faced over the past few years. He sold his condo, cashed out his 401(k), collected unemployment as long as he could and tried to come up with a plan. “It was terrible,” he says. “Some days I couldn’t get out of bed, others I was bored out of my skull, going to yet another free Friday night at the MoMA.”

Inspiration struck while he was wandering around the streets of his Greenwich Village neighborhood. Salvation came from the Sex and the City gals’ favorite cupcake.

“It’s the middle of a recession, and there’s a line of women down the block at Magnolia Bakery,” Arrick says of the uber-popular cupcake outpost featured on the popular HBO show. “It’s sugar, it’s cake, people love it, but I thought, ‘Why aren’t my boys being represented?'”

Cupcake recipes and designs skew feminine. What Arrick craved was something more “aesthetically masculine.” The idea of cupcakes for guys started out tongue-in-cheek, but Arrick had nothing else going on, so he hired the best website developer he could and basically had the beginnings of Butch Bakery within a week. “It’s a testament to throwing caution to the wind,” he says. For around $10,000, he had the website, packaging, insurance, space in a commercial bakery in Queens and a guy to make the macho treats.

Arrick was confident in the conception, but knew the cupcakes had to be top-notch or it wouldn’t matter. Dudes aren’t so much into unicorns, jellybeans and pink flowers, so in what had to be one of the all-time great research-and-development processes, Arrick and friends collaborated on manly recipes. They mixed-and-matched chocolate, peanut butter, banana, buttercream, cinnamon, booze, beer and the dessert de resistance: bacon. (“Bacon makes everything better,” Arrick says. “And I’m a Jew.”) They came up with 12 cupcakes with names like the Rum & Coke, the Big Papi and the Jackhammer. Arrick likes a bit of crunch with his sweets, so each cupcake has a candy disk on top in patterns like camouflage, plaid and houndstooth.

They were up and running in late 2009. Orders were steady for the first few months, but when Arrick’s story made it on Daily Candy — ironically, a newsletter for women — just before Valentine’s Day, business skyrocketed. Butch Bakery went from 500 hits to 5,000,000, and media outlets came calling. Arrick was shadowed by a German TV show, interviewed by radio hosts like Chicago’s Mancow and Australia’s Ugly Phil and written up in the Village Voice. “We turned the cupcake business on its ear and tapped into something out there,” he says.

Cupcakes were requested for soldiers in Iraq and fishermen in Alaska, but the publicity outpaced baking ability. At present, deliveries are only being made in New York. The company recently moved into a new commerical space, but Arrick hopes to add a storefront soon. He’s adding product, like the new “mini mates,” and laying the groundwork to expand the operation.

A cookbook for guys is in the works, but that’s just the icing on the cupcake, as it were. Arrick spent a decade as an actor, graduating from NYU with stars like Philip Seymour Hoffman and Adam Sandler, but didn’t quite share in their marquee success. So he’s excited that there are reality show projects in the works. One is being developed with Marc Summers of Food Network’s Unwrapped fame, while another would focus on Arrick’s reinvention of himself, as well as a robust cast of characters, including his five employees, friends and family.

Is there a lot on Arrick’s plate? Yes. But let’s say he’s much happier with a glass of milk that’s more than half full.

“I was backed up against the wall, but I had to stop spinning my wheels and take action,” he says. “It’s been overwhelming, but I’m having a lot of fun bringing the cool to cupcakes.”
